Love Life
(5)
Napoleon's love life involved Josephine Bonaparte. He was strongly in love with her. Napoleon first met her in a salon (in 1795), which was similar to a social event at the time. Josephine was not so in love with him at first, but she thought he would make a good husband. (5) They got married in the year 1796. Josephine's love to Napoleon was not a true love. She wanted to "use" him for many different purposes. One way she used him was by having the financial security, which Napoleon provided her with. Josephine also owed many people money. She was hoping that Napoleon could pay off the money she owes. When Napoleon crowned himself emperor, Josephine would waste his money on luxurious items she did not need. While Napoleon was away at war, they would write love letters to eachother. As time past, Josephine started to have true feelings for Napoleon, even though she just wanted to use him at first. Although their relationship was going great, Josephine was barren. Napoleon then learned Josephine had many affairs from her past. This encouraged Napoleon to have his own affairs.(6) After several relationships, he met an Austrian princess named Marie Louise. His romance with her, got her pregnant. This made Napoleon realize that it wasnt his fault for the fertility problem between him and Josephine. His child with Marie Louise was supposed to have the title: the King of Rome. Sadly, his son died at an early age.
